About the Group:

E.S Educational Charities was established in the year 1983 by the esteemed and eminent Industrialist, Philanthropist and President of the Tamil Nadu Inland Fishermen Association -Thiru E.Swamikannu  E.S Educational Charities has carved a niche for itself in the sphere of Women’s education in Villupuram district, Tamil Nadu. It has earned name and fame by making excellent contributions and rendering commendable services for the promotion of women’s education for more than three decades. Owing to the untiring efforts of the visionary management and the unstinted support of the parents and students, 6 institutions have blossomed under the E.S Group of Institutions managed by ESSK.  Shri.  S. Senthil Kumar, Managing Chairman and Secretary of E.S. Group of Educational Institutions (Managed by ESSK) is an institution of Excellence to promote and impart education through advanced and innovative education which runs Theivanai Ammal College for Women, E.S. Arts & Science College (Co-Ed), E.S. College of Nursing, Theivanai Ammal College of Education and Theivanai Institute of Business Management.

 

About the Institution:

To fulfill the dreams of Chairman, the Secretary of the College Mr.S.Senthilkumar is actively involved in the administration of the Institution. He has nominated as the member of Academic Council of Thiruvalluvar University by the Government of Tamil Nadu (2013-15). Under his dynamic leadership the college is resolved to face the interim and global challenges encountered by the students in the field of Education. He aims to provide quality higher education and seeks to evolve empowered women who are strong and ready to take up the challenges for building up of the Family, Society and Nation. He desires to take the college to global standards through Global Education by taking autonomy in a right sense as its privilege.

Theivanai Ammal College for Women (Autonomous) is one of the premier institutions located in Villupuram offering need-based quality education to uplift the status of the women with the vision “Women Empowerment”. The college is affiliated with Annamalai University, Chidambaram and offers quality education on par with global standards. It offers 19 UG, 9 PG, & 8 Ph.D. Programmes encompassing arts, literature, management, basic science, computer science & home science. The growth and success of the institution has gained recognition by UGC under section 2(f) and 12 (B) status, Conferment of fresh autonomous status in 2009 & Extension of autonomy in 2015 & 2021, NAAC accreditation with ‘A’ Grade in all the three cycles (2003, 2012 & 2019) and during 4th Cycle accredited with ‘A+’ grade during 2025. The college secured 70th rank amongst all self-financing autonomous Colleges in national level as per the survey conducted by Education world and received Band performer award from ARIIA 2021 and 3 stars from IIC. At present, the college has 1667 students, served by a team of administrative officers, faculty Members and non-teaching staff. The milestone in the 36 years of service, the college has been visited by former president of India Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam for launching of “Lead Villupuram 2020” in 2011.

Curriculum

The College adopts outcome-based education along with CBCS focusing on academic excellence, vocational skill development, value orientation, and community development. The fifth curriculum developed for all the programmes has courses which are relevant to local, regional, national and global needs. Constitution of statutory body meeting, Board of studies, Academic council, GB & IQAC as per UGC stipulations. The 18th AC and GB meeting for the year 2024 was conducted by inviting renowned experts from top 10 colleges of the State and Nation.

Teaching Learning

Curriculum is revised every three years in order to realize the vision and core values of the institution. International, National Conference and Workshops organized to ensure quality in teaching, learning and evaluation. Career counseling, Institutionalized feedback mechanism from all the stakeholders ensures cordial relationships, transparency and inculcating all the need to impart a value laden holistic global education in keeping with the lofty ideals that TACW stands for Strategic planning in participatory governance and administration. Mandatory online course in the UG curriculum through the Swayam portal is inculcated to meet the needs of NEP. International conference and Invited talk with experts, & outstanding Alumnae is arranged for global exposition.

The learning levels of students are assessed through the Entry Level Test and Continuous Internal Assessment. Based on their entry test marks, students are streamlined into General English and Advanced English Courses. The IUG students go through a Bridge course. The slow learners attend Remedial classes.

Evaluation

Internal & External assessments were done periodically through examination management system. Under Outcome Based Education, every programme has Programme Outcomes and Programme Specific Outcomes. The courses are offered with defined course objectives and course outcomes. In an Average the Overall pass percentage of UG & PG   Programme is 98%,

Research Grants

The college received funds from Government funding agencies like TNSCST, DST, MHRD, ICMR and ICSSR for executing research and community projects. The faculty and students have published papers in national / international journals, conference. Patenting and intellectual property creations are in their budding stage and received three patents. In recognition of its Potential the college has been funded by DST – FIST of Rs. 45 lakhs for establishing Central Instrumentation Facility with 50% contribution by the Management.

Collaborative activities carried out for global immersion programme, short term courses, industrial visit, student & faculty research and experiential learning. Nearly 45 functional MoU’s have been signed - Innopolis University, Russia, AIMST University, Malaysia, ACCA, London, Human Resource University, Cambodia and National collaboration with ISDC, Bangalore, IIBF, Mumbai, Presidency University, Bangalore, VIT, Vellore, Mother Theresa University, Kodaikanal, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Science, Chennai, MOP Vaisnav College, Chennai, Madras Christian College Chennai and ES Hospital, Villupuram, etc.,

Infrastructure

The College spread across 10 acres with 2 academic blocks. Learning facilities include 73 spacious, ventilated, and well-furnished lecture rooms, computer laboratories, audio-visual room, language lab, science laboratories, and commerce & accounting package lab. Six computer Labs has 365 desktops with the latest configuration, licensed software, wired and wireless internet with 200 mbps, 35KV UPS connections with the printer. 25 e-Classrooms equipped with LCD projector, Audio system and Internet which is used for ICT enabled Teaching and excellent modern libraries, an extensive well-maintained playground. The campus is equipped with Wi-Fi and e-governance through automation. 170 CCTV camera is set for safety and surveillance. Green and Healthy practices include Mushroom cultivation, Vermi composting Pit, Bio gas plant, Sewage treatment plant, Sanitary Napkins Incinerator, Herbal Garden, Butterfly Garden  Energy conservation through 30KW and 20KW Solar panels, Solar water heater, Solar street light, Battery powered Buggy, Liquid Waste Management, E-waste Management, , Rainwater harvesting and Bund.. Concerted and sustained endeavours for ensuring a plastic free green campus with emphasis on paperless office, RO water plant, guest rooms, Gym, cafeteria, escalator store, hostel facility and Medical facilities are supporting facilities available on the premises.

Student Support & Progression

Students benefitted by Scholarships and Free-ships from the Government and Free-ships offered by the Institution. Exclusive mentor mentee system is adopted to support and guide the students for the betterment of academic and professional career of the students. 21 buses ply on 17 different rural routes considering the safety of the students.

On average, 85 % students go for both higher studies and placement every year in all over India. TACW created top class alumnae network that maintains a symbiotic relationship between the alma mater and its alumni.

Extension and Outreach activities

The college has a good track record in extracurricular activities like NCC, NSS, cultural activities, and sports achievements. 186 B certificates and 166 C certificates are received by NCC students in the respective camp exams.

Transformation of the community service does not end with education, the institution extents its hand to community service by sharing the campus for organization of government programs. They have also donated funds for Swachh Bharat scheme and also donated to improve the reading habits of public by contributing to Book fair. The institution is poised to reach the zenith of success and attain the status of Women’s University with global recognition.

·         Founded in 1989, Theivanai Ammal College for Women (Autonomous) is accredited with “A+” Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in the 4th Cycle during March 2025.

·  The College has also got the “Autonomous” status conferred by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The College adopts Choice Based Credit System with focus on academic excellence, vocational skill development, value orientation and sensitization for community development. Its creative and flexible curriculum aims to provide the students with the best possible opportunity to fulfill their academic aspirations and tap their intellectual potentials to contribute towards resolving the global challenges.

The TACW Innovation HUB nurtures innovation, and encourages entrepreneurial talents among students, faculty and people of the region. It facilitates inter-disciplinary research and provides incubation facilities to start ups and budding entrepreneurs. Redesigning common mind and Business towards excellence. Our Innovation Hub (iHUB) strives to develop innovative products and services with clear and measurable objectives based on emerging technologies through our Innovation Community, for the betterment of society and the future of India. Design thinking approach is a key factor for product development in our institutions. The problem statement is collected from leading and small-scale industries and approach is used to develop a product. These products are developed with innovative ideas by the faculty members and the students. Objectives
